Say Bye Bye to the Oily T-Zone

A common problem that a lot of us suffer from, especially during the summer period is the oily T-zone. With that being said, the oilier your skin is, the more likely it is to break out in acne or blackheads. So, instead of just living with this problem, maybe it’s about time we did something to prevent it and get rid of it.

Drink a lot of water

The first and most important thing that you can do is stay hydrated. With that being said, we don’t mean just drinking one cup of water a day, but drinking as much as eight cups if you truly want to stay hydrated. When the skin is hydrated it helps to control and prevent the oils from appearing on your face, which will prevent that oily T-zone.

Choose the right cleanser for you

If you truly want to get rid of this problem, then finding the cleanser that works for you is imperative. Remember that not everything that works for other people will work on you too. So, you need to search the market and pick a product that will help you minimize this issue. What you need to look out for, are cleansers that might help you control your oils but at the same time stripping you of your natural oils. Apart from that if you have combination skin then picking a product that doesn’t dry out the rest of your face is crucial too.

Use less makeup

The more make up you have on the heavier your face feels. If you’re wearing a lot of foundation, then it is normal that your skin will get greasier and your T-zone will only get oilier. So instead of wearing heavy make-up, why not opt for something that is more natural and lighter. Maybe try wearing tinted moisturizers like a BB or CC cream. That way you can avoid getting your skin shinier then it already is.

Try a matte foundation

If you’re uncomfortable wearing a tinted moisturizer and just enjoy high coverage make-up, then stay away from foundations that promise to give your skin a dewy finish. Instead, go for a foundation that offers a matte finish. This way, you’ll be able to reduce the shine and won’t look like you’ve had a ton of foundation on. If you want to make sure that your foundation stays put and doesn’t grease then go over it with a translucent powder just to make sure that everything stays in place.

Opt for an oil-free primer

Although you’re wearing a matte foundation, something that you need to watch out for is what kind of primer you’re putting. Always make sure you put an oil-free primer, which is yet another product that can help you reduce the shine and help prevent the oils from coming through. What you can do is apply this primer only on the areas where you tend to get oily, like the T-zone. This is so because people with combination skin might have an oily T-zone, but dry cheeks, so applying the primer everywhere might make your dry areas even drier. So, when applying it, make sure you only apply it where you need it.

Blotting papers are your friend

If you’re a person that loves make-up and doesn’t leave the house without it, then make sure you pack some blotting papers too. This is so because once your skin gets oily, some people tend to apply even more makeup, like a powder foundation. However, this might have a negative effect, since it’ll just make you look like you’re wearing ten layers of makeup, which is not far from the truth. So, instead of packing your powder foundation, pack your blotting papers which you can use anytime you notice oils coming through. Rather than just adding more makeup, you’re just soaking the excess oil.

Be careful what you eat

If you’re trying to scale down that oily T-zone, then something that you should definitely watch out is the food that you eat. Depending on how you treat yourself on the inside, will be crucial to how you’ll look on the outside. This is why you should always make sure that you eat the right food for you. What this means is scaling down on drinking alcohol and eating spicy foods. You can still have these, but maybe limit them to once a week.

One of the most common problems that a lot of people have to deal with is an oily T-zone. Although this is most prominent in summer, some people have this problem all year round. However, not all oils are bad oils, so just stay away from the bad ones. How you deal with this is imperative, so before going and buying some expensive skincare, why not read these tip, so that you’ll get a better idea of what you should, and what you shouldn’t do.
