How to Prevent Dark Undereye Circles

One of the things that most girls and guys would like to make disappear is the dark undereye circles. There is nothing cute about looking tired and puffy, although you don’t feel tired at all. Sometimes the dark circles and the puffiness are inherited, which means that although you can help minimize them, they may never fully disappear. However, dark circles can also appear due to tiredness, an increase in pigment, or just a lack of care for that area of your face. With that being said, there are several things that you can do to help minimize them and make yourself look fresher and more awake.

Get some good ol’ sleep

When it comes to how you can prevent dark circles from appearing, if you haven’t inherited them, it’s by getting enough sleep. When we say enough sleep, we don’t just mean sleep as much as you can but try to get about seven to eight hours of sleep per day. Your entire body needs rest if it is to function with its full capacity, so if you don’t want to look tired, it’s better to be well rested. However, there is a thing as too much sleep. If you spend most of your day sleeping, this just might increase your puffiness and make the dark circles even worse.

Stay away from alcohol

Consuming alcohol can be one of the worst things you can do if you’re trying to avoid getting dark circles. Instead of consuming alcohol, it’s best if you consume as much water as you can, so as to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized.

Give tea bags a try

Something that everyone recommends when trying to reduce puffiness and dark circles is using tea bags. The caffeine and the antioxidants that can be found in tea are great when trying to get rid of your dark under eyes. This helps decrease your swelling as well as minimizing the discoloration. What you need to do is soak two tea bags in water and let them cool down. Once they’re cold put them on your eyes for about ten minutes and let them work their magic. When the ten minutes are down, make sure you wash your face with cold water. Repeat this once or two times a day for those maximum results.

Always wear sunscreen

Sunscreen is not just meant for your holiday, but it should be used regularly. This is so because the skin around our eyes is known to be highly sensitive and prone to sun damage. So, if you spend a lot of time outside in the direct sunlight, then make sure you cover those areas of your face and always apply sunscreen. If you still skip this step, then the dark circles will only get worse and worse. For more protection, always wear sunglasses when outside in the sun.

Make sure you cool down that area

The best way to reduce puffiness is to actually put a cold compress under your eyes. You can either do this by putting potato or cucumber slices or just soak a washcloth in water and put it over your closed eyelids for a couple of minutes. You can even go a step further a take a couple of ice cubes and put them in a cloth and hold them under your eyes. This will definitely help minimize your puffiness and help reduce the discoloration, making you look more awake.

Water is key

Staying hydrated is something that can help your overall health, as well as help you with the dark circles under your eyes. This is so, because dehydration is one of the worst culprits when it comes to puffiness and dark circles, so make sure you always stay hydrated.

Get rid of the cigarettes

If you are a cigarette smoker, then you should consider giving that habit up, if you want to get rid of your under eye circles. It’s a well-known fact that too much cigarette smoke can just increase the appearance of dark circles and puffiness, so it’s maybe time to throw them out.

Don’t ever leave your makeup overnight

We all know how tiring it can be to remove your makeup at the end of a long day. However, if you want to get rid of your dark circles, this is something that you have to do. With that being said, always make sure that you remove your makeup thoroughly, not just going through it once with a wet wipe. By taking your makeup off, you allow your pores to breathe, so that you look more refreshed when you wake up.

There are so many things you can do when trying to get rid of dark undereye circles. However, you should always stick to these things if you don’t want them to reappear again.
